Dear friends

i see on P&ID after the plunger type pump they use the PCV(regulator valve)

as i know this type of pump is positive displacement work not centrifugal type.

can we use the control valve after positive displacement pump for controlling the pressure ?

thanks

mike

It really depends on the P&ID and what type of regulator valve it is.  If you attached the P&ID and gave some details on the regulator valve (pressure regulator or back-pressure regulator), we could help some more.

Provide more information about your system to understand the requirements.

as a general information, a self regulated valve is typically installed in the discharge of the positive displacement pumps "chemical injection skids' to keep a constant back pressure at the discharge of the pumps.

Mike,

In general, PD pumps do not have control systems. To maintain a constant discharge pressure, a manual pressure control valve/ self regulated pressure control valve will be provided.
