I am working on a RO plant pilot project. I need some guidence in selecting the pre treatment technology. Following are the characteristics of feed water;

TSS: 14 to 29 ppm

SDI: 5.67

TDS: 54000 to 61000 ppm

Supply Pressure: 290psig

Temprature: 15 DegC (winter) and 35 degC (summer)

Ambient Temperature: 49 degC (max) and -1 degC (min)

Currently there are only cartridge filters (5 microns) in the design. But based on the above conditions it seems that its not enough.

Please advise any literature/ share experience which pre filtration technology will be best for this system.

Thanks

Typically after the cartridge filter an ultrafiltration skid is requiered before the water is sent to the RO units. The ultrafiltration system has pressure and temperature limitations (max pressure about 73 psig and maximum temperature 40°C). For that reason proper protection shall be provided upstream ot the skid for the pressure, an adequate building will provide protection for the UF/RO skids to avoid high temperatures and avoid direct sun light. for better information ask vendor regarding with your specific application to get a better configuration for your requirements.
