hye,

just have one inquiry regarding to the chemical enjection system.

previous design is using PD pump (chemical storage tank->PD pump->to injection point which is recycle gas).

now they dont want to use PD pump and storage tank anymore. they want to push the liquid using HP nitrogen up to injection point.

question: i never seen the chemical injection using nitrogen. is it common in the plant? sketch of the injection is as per attached.

The problem is that you have to release the storage tank pressure for re-filling the chemicals into the thank.

before the tank, it has liquid detector (upstream of control valve before the vessel. that control valve will open when detect low level in the vessel and close when detect no ECL liquid). when the ecl liquid bottle empty, they will replace with new bottle.

i dont see any reason why need to release pressure inside the vessel during filling.

I have not seen gases being used for doing liquid chemicals except compressed gas use for pumping fuming sulfuric acid to the doing tank/injecction point. However, if economics and ease of process operation  work out, there should not be any problem/objection for use. As Mr  Shan and Mr Farid said, refilling the tank has to be taken into consideration..

I guess you are OK if the ECL injection is an intermittent operation not a continuous operation.
