Warm Up Line Of Steam Turbine

I want to know how to size warm up line of steam turbine?

Hi Zahra,

 

In general a steam turbine, especially larger units, should be warmed gradually by recommended (normally vendor recommendation) warm up ramps rate; then relevant line would be sized accordingly. But typical size of warm up line is one inch...

there is a steam turbine with HPS inlet line 8".

is not 1" line for warm up of HPS line (8") small?

Dear Zahra,

 

When we see that the ramp rate for warm up of the steam turbine to bring it to operating temperature is in order of magnitude of "Degrees Celcius/hr", then appears a 1" line couldn't be so small for such operation in a steam turbine with inlet line of 8". In most cases mentioned line is included a globe valve to allow for adjusting the recommended ramp rate...
