Pig launcher/receiver is isolated from the normal operation.  The pressure inside the barrel of pig launcher/receiver is 0 psig during the normal operation.  When you are ready for switching to a pigging operation, you should pressurize the pig launcher/receiver to 'balance' the pipeline pressure and barrel pressure before opening the pigging valve to introduce the pipeline fluid into the pig launcher/receiver barrel.

Tamizh,

Consider reading these papers. Safety/operation are key .

Hope this will help you out.

Good luck

With regards to this topic, does anyone have any experience to share with regards to flowmeters which allow pigging?

I am considering using a full bore type so that the pig may pass through with no problems. Then there will be no need to remove the flowmeter during pigging operation.

You can use an external ultrasonic meter.
