Gents,

Is it a common practice to paint / epoxy coat the shell area where the floating roof moves? Anybody familiar with API-653 please help..

If yes, do you know any incident of shoe plate (of primary seal) being flip over due to paint debris stuck between shoe plate and the tank shell.
