Good morning, I have a question: how can I obtain the map of a multistage axial compressor? I calculated the design point and so I know the geometry of the compressor. But I don't understand if it's possibile to calculate the map without any experimental data. Thank you

reye,
What is your understanding of a multistage compressor performance map?
Are you aware of the parameters represented on a compressor performance map?
Normally performance maps are provided by compressor manufacturers, wherein the relative volume flow rate (selected volume rate / Design volume rate) is plotted (abscissa) against the relative pressure ratio (selected pressure ratio / design pressure ratio) (ordinate) and multiple curves are plotted with respect to the design flow rate and design pressure ratio for variables such as variable speed, variable opening inlet guide vanes etc.
From what I have mentioned above, to generate such a performance map you need to have full information related to the geometry of the various stages as well as the stage-wise pressure ratios (Stage discharge pressure / Stage suction pressure) that can be achieved.
To conclude, I am not sure how you are going to generate a multistage compressor performance map as a student. In real world practice, such performance maps are provided by the compressor manufacturer based on various operating scenarios and cases generated for the particular gas compression application.
Apparently you haven't provided complete information of what you are trying to achieve. Please provide further details.
Regards,
Ankur.

thank you. I've designed a multistage axial compressor (seven stages) and I'd like to know if there's a way to calculate its map. So, is it impossible for a student like me?
PS sorry, my english isn't good:)
