hello,

I'm working on crude oil desalting system and i'm preparing a economic study. so i'm looking for a cost estimation of a desalter and electric power consumption. i know that these values change with each operating system, but i'm looking for an average or an example of these values.

Thanks in advance

Please, you can check information about this, on the textbook of Gary, Handwerk Petroleum Refinery Economics.

Regards,
Napo.

Why don't ask a quotation to desalter vendors?

ipwn,

I can add some little items....

1) http://www.cheresour...ing-crude-oils/     http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=219808

2) Napo indication is right. That valuable book includes a curve for the investment costs of desalters

3) I obtained good answers from petrolite > baker hughes > cameron people

4) I specified/bought desalters: a) in 1993... around 1 M$ for a double-stage (1 PTB salt at outlet), 125000 BPSD in refinery; b ) in 2003, about 4 M€ for a 3-stage (1 PTB), 55000 BPSD in oil field

5) eletric consumptions are not very high: 25 kW for reference 4b above

6) various auxiliary costs shall be added to the desalter itself (eg heat exchangers, pumps....)

Hoping to read more about your project,

good luck

Hi,

Here are my recommendations:

1- refer to chapter 4 of "Petroleum Refining; Technology and Economics" written by J.H. Gary and G.E. Handwerk (I have the 4th edition) there is a curve there and you can use it. You may need to consider escalation based on reference date of prices.

2- Use available applications. You may see an example here

3- Write to a vendor and ask for an accurate price.
