Hi guys,

The finned tube heat exchanger of a chemical plant I have just visited suffer from a problem due to dew point corrosion. Can I know other than changing the construction material for the heat exchanger is there a better way to deal with such situation? The medium @ temperature are flue gas @ 360°C and water @ 30°C.

Inject corrosion inhibitor into your flue gas at upstream of the exchanger.

Keeping temperature of heat exchanger exit flue gas above dew point can reduce corrosion. You loose some energy but protect the equipment
