I am doing psv sizing for fire case wetted wall for  three phase separator. In this case i need to consider adjacent piping volume for calculating the exposed surface area of the vessel.i.e exposed surface area of the vessel can be calculated based on the liquid level high-high and the adjacent piping volume. How to calculate the adjacent piping volume? Pls explain.

You can calculate the surface area within the exposed section for piping based on the layout and dimensions. Or as a thumb rule, you can consider 10% extra on the wetted surface area of your vessel for the associated piping and fittings.

Hi,

As Ahmadikh mentioned, you can consider 10%-15% additional wetted area to account for pipework...
