Dear All

Good day!

We are running a Sulfuric acid plant with an air blower feeding the sulfur furnace.  The rotor of the blower was replaced last year due to its age.  This year when we opened the blower, we found traces of sulfuric acid at the blower suction  although we found no abnormality in the drying tower.  The anti surge line of the blower was found filled with acid.

Upon detailed inspection we found cracks at the impeller toe of the newly installed 17-4 PH material impeller.

Can any one share their experience and maybe help us identify the root cause?

Best regards and God Bless you
