We have fresh amine storage tank that contains 40 percent MDEA and 10 pyprazine as activator in water solution. Dose it need warming coil for avoiding of crystallization or increase of viscosity? The minimum temp in site is -1.
Do you have seen any similiar case using coil for warming?
I only seen this on caustic tank not for amine tank.
Thank you

Yes normally we provide a steam coil whenever the site conditions are such that the ambient temp can fall below 15 degC.. Because BASF recommends MDEA temp to be kept atleast 15 degC and not less than that...

Hi Kian,
As quiet.life mentioned steam coil is needed for MDEA storage tank and to be used when it's intended that MDEA being pumped to the user(s) and the tank temperature is lower than normal pumping temperature.

Hi,
additional link where is described the design of typical Storage tank for amines (Dow) ,this includes coil .
There is a special note in table 3 regarding the need of heating coil which may help you
