Dear sir

I am currently investigating case of RD premature burst. My RD type is reverse scored buckling type RD and its been installed at Rebolier return line to column. service is HCL. RD stamped burst pressure is 1447 Kpa and my operating pressure is 1300 to 1330 KPa. RD have tolerance of 5%. Computing tolerance factor its stamped bust

pressure becomes 1375 KPa. which is means we are operating more than 90% of operating ratio which is not recommended by API. we have currently ask supplier for lesser tolerance RD.

We have observed multiple premature burst on this RD. One important thing to add due to choking issue RD have to be taken out service and then again taken back into service thus facing pressure cycle from 0 to 1330 KPa. Although as per supplier RD is been designed for many cycles

My question is what is impact of too many cycle exposure on RD and is it possible for RD to get burst in 2-3 cycles of operation.

Pls do correct if I have written any wrong vocab.

Thanks

smadhami
