Hi,

We are estimating some budgetary estimates for a pump, a compressor along with the required piping, valving, utilities...etc. I will be using Perry Chap 9 along with CPI.

If the power estimates are outside the range covered by Perry, where else would I be able to find this? Also, please note the material of construction is likely gonna be Stainless Steel 316.

Regards,

Sherif

For budget pricing you can often use the mass of the item as the scaling factor.  As a general rule, the larger the mass the lower the cost per unit mass.  But if you do not have actual price curves you can make a conservative estimate by estimating linearly with mass.  If you have budget prices for valves of a smaller size than those for which you now need the estimate, reduce the price you have to a $ per pound (or kilogram) basis and apply that to the larger valve (or pipe, pump, tank or whatever).

Contact the appropriate vendor for a budget price. Then multiply the number(s) by 5 for an approximate installed cost. You can expect this estimate to be no better than +- 50%.

Gents,

Thank you all for the feedback. This is for my Master Degree Project hence I can't use the company's database (out of confidentiality and rights).

Breizh, what's the title and author name of that book/reference?
