In existing, from water wells, when this water passes through the RO unit all minerals are removed which is potentially harmful to persons drinking the water unless it is re-mineralized.

To put back the minerals that was removed by the RO unit, we need to install the re-mineralizer which is safe to do so and this re-mineralizer will not in anyway compromise the operation on the RO system.

Question ->

1. What is need to prepare to install remineralizer at the downstream of the RO unit?

2. Which information need to understand for this situration?

3. How should I handle this?

P.S : Don't have any experience in re-mineralization before.

Best Regards.

1.Water for life sustaining (by both humans and other living creatures) needs calcium, magnesium and iron also because these minerals are required  for metabolism. RO removes all minerals. So it is not fit for consumption of living creatures (including humans). So some essential minerals have to be added and they can be added only in the downstream because if they added in the upstream, they are also removed by RO.

2.By "Saturation", do you mean saturation for cooling.water? If so, the requirements are, pH, M Alkalinity, Calcium hardness, temperature, and TDS.

3.Calculate Langlier Index, Saturation Index and Stability Index. LI and SI will indicate whether the water is scale forming  or corrosive.

Actually, the plan to add remineralizer is between RO system and (Dechlorinator with Carbon Catridge and UV system) Package.

So, The thing the next I am not clear is that when we install Remineralizer at the downstream of RO and Upstream of the package (Dechlorinator with Carbon Catridge and UV system), "Will all our added essential minerals remove by Dechlorinator with Carbon Catridge?"

No. Dechlorinator and Carbon Cartrige do not remove the added minerals.

So... TO add Re-Mineralizer

What calculations require for Re-mineralizer... and which books do i need to refer?

Best Regards... and Thank You.. Sir.

Much info is available on Internet. Just type Langlier Index (and sturation index or stability index) in the search box and enter

Which Remineralizer should install?

Some are used

- Dolomite Filter

- Calcite Bed (with Storage and Mixing Tanks)

- Sodium Carbonate Injuction System

I am not sure

- how many remineralizing system there have?

- how many type and methods?

Could you kindly guide me and their reference book?

Best Regards.

I have seen at some places, calcium chloride is dosed in regulated quantities. Passing water through beds of calcite and dolomite may saturate the water with these minerals and makes it unsuitable for potable purposes. Follow drinking water standards of your country or ASTM.
