Hello to everyone!!!

I need to simulate an Acid Gas removal unit with MDEA. The sour gas composition is mainly gas C1,C2... and 14%mol CO2 and 4% with a flowrate of 25000 Kmol/h.

The problem arises with the regenerator set up. I tried to vary the inlet temperature, pressure  levels, number of trays package everithing that i know and is still not working.

I upload the composition and the conditions of the inlet regenerator stream.

If you can help me i will send you the file.

Thank you in advance.

The first glaring problem I see is the simulator you are using. You would be hard pressed to find a single reputable engineering or operating company that uses Hysys for modeling an MDEA sweetening unit. ProMax is the simulator used to model MDEA units.

Second, your sweetening unit is incomplete. There is no flash tank, no lean/rich exchanger, no lean amine cooler. I never try to model it piece meal. Model the whole process as one.

Third, it looks like your pressure is too high. Most amine regenerators operate at about 2-3 bar.

Thank you for your response.

Do you know where can i obtain ProMax?

I'm still trying with hysys :( , I started with the acid gas sweetening unit with DEA from one of the examples included in Hysys 8.0 then I set up my composition and swaped DEA with MDEA 50% and PZ 3% and after the first recycle it brokes up due to a negative inlet flowrate on the contactor.

Can you give me any advice?

Are you in any way related to Gabriel Le Mar, famous electronic music producer? Or you are a fan of his works?

We could look deeper into the problem if you can upload the Hysys file. Just to make the best of it, please save it as XML file as well, then zip the native file and the XML file together, and upload the .zip file in this thread. For uploading you can use the feature "More Reply Options" located below the bottom right corner of the reply window.

You would need to contact the developers of the software to get proMax - Bryan Engineering.

Hi Zauberberg!

HaHaHa I wish to have any any relationship with him!.

I've already make some advantages in the process.

Now, i have some troubles with the recycle system.

I don't know how to fit the recycle stream with the lean amine stream.

I' will post a link to my google drive with the files.

Thank you for your help!
