Dear All,

I have some doubt on the PSV sizing basis for the pressure vessel.

1.Is it necessary to size the PSV for fire case which is installed in the Pressure vessel?

2. Normally when we will go for the fire case ?

regds, chemmu

When there is potential for a pool fire scenario with the vessel.  Self leak, then fire.  Other tank/pump leaks, then fire.  Pipe/hose failure, then fire.

You can get all the information you need in API 521 (some revisions are available on the internet). Local codes and regulations in the country where the project is executed may be even more stringent.

In addition to the above, the normal vent might be used for emergency venting, but usually there is a dedicated emergency vent to handle the very large volume that would be the result of a fire.

proinwv,

An emergency vent nothing to do with a pressure vessel and a pressure safety device should do the job either in fire case or other over pressure scenarios...
