Hi,
I would like to confirm my understanding regarding the hydraulic calculations.
Assume that its a closed loop and I would like to carry out they hydraulic calculations for the maximum flow rate case and minimum flow rate case in order to calculate the control valve pressure drop.
1. Maximum Flowrate Case
- The pump runs at the rated capacity = 30m3/hr, with a pump head of 50m.
- Pump Head = 50m
2. Minimum Flowrate Case
- As the flowrate decreases, we only need 10m3/hr.
So, what i am curious is:
For the min. flowrate case, do i use the same pump head (50m) to carry out the hydraulic calculations?
Or should i refer to the selected pump performance curve to find the pump head @ 10m3/hr?
Because as i understand, based on the pump performance curve, the pump head will increase with a decreasing of flowrate.
What is the normal practice when calculating control valve pressure drop for max. and min. case?
Kindly advice me and it would nice if example can be provided.
