Hi,

I would like to know what are common practices for decontamination of oil refinery plants in preparation for a turnaround.

Currently, our operations department uses regular steaming (175#) for most pipelines and vessels, however at times i've seen heavy oil systems steamed with detergent (simple green) as well as the use of Zyme for pyrophoric servies.

Thanks.

Yes. Steaming is used for removing volatile hydrocarbons from refinery vessels during turn-around. In some occasions, nitrogen is also used.

HSD/LDO flushing of black circuit will also carried out before steaming.and some time water flushing will also before steaming if water available.

Hey,

As PK Rao said, steaming is used to remove the volatile hydrocarbon gases as well as hydrogen sulfide and others. We offer specialty chemicals that get injected into the steam and can remove the gases, h2s and pyrophorics in one step. See our website for more information https://fqechemicals...sses/degassing/or read our chemists blog all about degassing and decontamination http://blog.fqechemicals.com/degassing-truly-degassing-or-something-else
