Attached File  MX-3100N_20150410_230333.pdf   271.38KB   40 downloadsDear All,

Due to the absence of a reference document describing the correct installation of blowdown orifice plate (vertical or horizontal position), could you please advice how can I install the orifice.
For more detail:
- RO to be installed on GL slug catcher en horizontal position (design pressure 150 barg),
- According our BoD a minimum distance between the BDV and the RO is 500 mm,
- Current proposal need a general shut-down for 24 hour of one of our platform (8000 bbls of oil lost), due to hot work. (venting, inerting, cutting, surface preparation, welding, industrial radiography, installation & leak test)
- Alternative solution (cold work): general shut-down of 3 hour. (venting, inerting, installation & leak test)
- Please refer to the attached schematic.

Best Regards
Ayman

Ayman,

Because the BDV is normally closed, to prevent the accumulation of any liquid at either side of the valve especially at downstream, the set of BDV and following RO should be in horizontal position with BDV at high point that will lead to free drain at upstream/downstream lines of the valve...
