C7H8 + H2C6H6 + CH4

Explain, based on the products, on what typical scale you would expect an industrial process carrying out this operation to operate.

I'm thinking industrial scale, as large quantity of benzene is produced to be sold to a large number of people. While methane is used to produce petrol.

Industrial scale production of benzene from toluene is by Hydrodealkylation (HDA) process.

Main licensors are Axens and CB&I Lummus:

Benzene is important feedstock for petrochemicals.

Methane is a byproduct that is used as fuel gas, not to produce petrol.

It depends on demand and supply of products. If you can market the products, you can produce more.
