Hello,

I am trying to do a simulation for a sour gas caustic removal unit. Is Aspen the best tool for this purpose? I saw the caustic package in Promax, but I didn't find Na2CO3 and Na2S in the components libary. I feel Promax is not a good tool to do this job.

Advise please?

Thank you,

Leo

ProMax would absolutely be the best simulator for this. In ProMax, you do not need to add those components, as they are automatically predicted when sulfur and carbon are contacted with NaOH in a caustic property package. I've seen many of these models developed by UOP when they provide their license on the engineering side. ProMax is what I've used, too for this process. I've always been happy with it.

To see the Na2CO3 and NaS2 concentrations, you need to add an ionic info analysis to the liquid stream. It will display the ions and salts that are generated.

I hope that helps.
