What will be the difference on the performance if we will install a chemical injection quill on horizontal Pipe or vertical pipe?

As far as i know, an injection quill is installed in horizontal piping; but there would be no difference on its performance if it is installed in horizontal or vertical piping. Orientation of 45 degree angled end is important in injection quill performance which should be face downstream for liquid stream and face upstream for vapor stream...
