Hi everyone!

Does anyone have experience in verifying pressure drop (PD) of existing flare system. I have one - coupled acid and conventional HC flare system and I have calculated allmost all excluding flare stack. I haven't found how I can calculate PD through molecular seal (this type). Does anyone have any friction factors for different types of molecular seal?

And else - I've done computing one flare (using rated capacity) and got result - DP = 16 kPa from discharge nozzle (throat) to inlet in integrated KO drum. Is this value real, it seems to me rather small?

Thanks in advance

Hello Shvet,

Design Pressure drop through Flare tip can range from 0.1 to 2 psi (approx.)

Pressure drop across Gas seal (Molecular Seal) is approx  1 to 3 times the Flare Tip Pressure drop.

thanks, very usefull. It'll help me a lot in future.

There are some curves (pressure drop - volumetric flow) for John Zink flare tips. Does anyone know is there any similar curves for gas seals?
