Dear All

 

I request you to help me understand the LP Gas Carrier ship unloading process when the LP Gas Carrier ship (max. 4000 m³ capacity) is pressurized in nature.

 

My understating of the process:

1. Marine loading arms (Liquid for LP Gas transfer and Vapor for vapor balancing between storage and gas carrier) are lined up.
2. Pressurized Liquid LP Gas from the carrier is first transferred to the pressurized storage (bullets of spheres) by difference in pressures.
3. Ship mounted pumps are then started and Liquid LPG is transferred.

Query:

1. After the entire Liquid LP Gas is transferred from the LP Gas carrier ship, there are substantial amount of vapors present in the ship. Is it a usual practice to recover these by use of a compressor?
2. I am aware this is done for Tank Trucks and Tank Wagons. Is it also applicable for LP Gas carrier ships. If yes, are the ships equipped with the compressors or not?
