Vertical Cut Baffles In Boiling Services

Hi we are doing a revamp project where we need to  eliminate the FIV from an existing reboiler. Presently it has H type shell . We evaluated that with the use of DS baffles - vertical cut, the FIV problem can be encountered. But we are not sure whether the use of vertical cut baffles in boiling service will produce any adverse effect or not. Please comment

What is FIV? I assume DS means double segmental baffles. In a boiling service I think vertical cut baffles would be better than horizontal cut. There would be less possibility of gasses being trapped.
