On an air assisted flare, certain wires/cables are required in the proximity of the flare to power the blowers. Additionally, certain structures (cable trays, panels) may also be required within a certain radius.
Since flare design is based on radiation (BTU/hr/ft2), how do plant designers ensure that the wiring/structures that approach the flare are rated for the temperatures that the equipment can reach? Do they normally calculate expected temperatures (Ex: this black insulated wire should get to X degrees based on Y BTU/hr/ft2) or do designers normally assume a temperature limit based on prior experience?
