Hello all,

Greetings ! I'm working as a process engineer in a Natural gas company.

  • Our fuel gas conditioning system seems to run into problems of clogging when we take the feed tap off downstream of the TEG unit ( Dehy column). Apparently the culprit is the TEG.
  • In order to tackle this problem currently we are using a JT skid upstream of the membranes followed by a KO drum.
  • We make sure atleast some condensates are draining from the KO drum which removes the problem causing TEG. However ,we always run into the problem of hydrates in our residue line hence we use another heat exchanger to solve the temperature issue.
  • The overall skid becomes very expensive and operationally challenging when we design it this way.
  • We generally use silicon rubber membranes for heavy hydrocarbon removal.
  • We are currently tapping the feed  from upstream of the dehy column but In order to be far from the hydrate point we use a heater.Cost adder again.
  • Can any one suggest a simple , cost effctive solution for removing TEG from the heavy gas feed downstream of TEG dehy column?

I'd highly appreciate any insights, suggestions and recommendations on this topic.

Regards,

Girija

Hello all,

To simplify, I need to know only two things.

  • What are the methods available for separating TEG from natural gas?
  • If I get my inlet at 1200 psig will I be able to acheive the separation and still be able to get my gas at 500-600 psig after the separation.

Thanks and Regards,

Girija

Dear Girija,

You may install TEG Filter Coalescer downstream of the dehydration column.
