Hi all,

I have a few flow meters which always give out of range reading (higher side). For example if the high range is 100 kg/h it give 100 kg/h, I could not know the actual flow since it has gone beyond the range . I plan to re range the flow meter, but the problem is how can I get the correct range. Appreciate if you can give some advice..

ezrahl ,

Probably good for you to check the data sheet associated to your flow meters and to discuss with the vendor . BTW difficult to say much not knowing the technology and having no information about the action you have been taking to solve the problem or to confirm the reading ..

Good luck

ezrahl,

for me the best solution is, you can rent a portable flowmeter from relevent contractor, ask them to do on-site flowrate checking, and from that value, you can make that as basis for the flowmeter re-range.

I don't know which are the fluids and process units in question here, but usually it is possible to calculate material balance around the plant (or at least obtain a decent estimate of flows) by looking at an overall diagram showing in/out streams. If you can get these figures, you may be able to obtain those that are missing.
