Stripper BTM pump is running at 300'C. That's why we should warm-up pump in order to switch pump.

Now the arrangement of warm-up line is quite different with general ones.

Its composition is same. It has restriction orifice and glove valve.

But line connection is different.

General warm-up lines are connected from discharge line to discharge line and just bypass discharge check valve.

But our stipper BTM pump is connected to casing directly.

As I know, the purpose of warm-up line is to warm-up casing. So, I think it doesn't matter at all.

The dead discharge line is also very small(0.07m3) than normal flow (200m3/hr).

When the cold fluid contacts high temperature outside(300'C), fluid is just expanded to 0.09m3.

I'd like to know we should change the tie-point of warm-up line from casing to discharge line.

Kyo2355,

If you pump is hot and you donĀ“t have other problem, then you connection is Ok.

Check mechanical seal. By security you must write an operational proceduce for this pump.

Is yours and end-suction pump, with an inlet nozzle larger than 14, or a "all-top" oriented pump? Is it a multi-stage pumps? All of these are normallt provided with the warm-up arrangement that you have described.

Why do you want to change the existing wrm-up set-up?
