Dear ALL,

Currently am working on terminal facilities projects.

where, fluid is coming from jetty having 7 Bar (g) pressure at 45 degree temperature & length of pipeline is 1.4 km long.

TSV (Thermal safety valve) was installed between two isolation valve & discharge of TSV connected in same 1.4 km pipeline.

Condition for that:

Design pressure of pipeline :10.5 Bar(g)

MAWP : 15.75 Bar(g)

Design Temperature of pipeline : 87 degree Celsius

Operating pressure :7 Bar(g) of pipeline

Operating temperature : 45 degree Celsius

Set pressure of TSV : 10.5 Bar(g)

Variable back pressure : 0.0 Bar(g)

My query :

  1. what is the back pressure(Superimposed pressure) that i have to consider for TSV?
  2. What is the back pressure criteria for thermal safety valve in pipeline projects?

For your reference drawing enclosed.

Thanks & Regards,

PRANAV

PRANAV,

1- Worse operational pressure at TSV outlet line connection to the main pipeline

2- There Is no generalized criteria for back pressure of TSV; hydraulic conditions at TSV outlet connection to pipeline will dictate the back pressure at the relieving moment...
