We are operating 4000 tons /day sulfuric acid plant. The is operating well, however we have observed a sudden change in vibration in discharge piping of acid circulation pumps. The piping is a combined header where two acid circulation pumps discharge the acid. one pump discharges through an elbow and and the other pump discharges acid through a tee into this combined header.

We have checked the parameters and we found change in amperes of one pump drop from 240 to 220 whereas the amperes of other pump remained appprox the same. This pump is close to the compartment where dilution water is mixed

The discharge pressure remained the same i..e 3.2 bar g .The flows to the tower remained the same . Also, the densities are the same. The discharge valves are fully opened and there is no change

Similarly, there is no change in spring supports position

We have checked the vibration in pumps and those are normal and are running fine . Also, the bearing temperatures are fine

Could any one advise us the reason

With the symptoms you describe I would look for some problem with pipe supports.
