Hello everyone,

I was wondering why centrifugal compressors are often placed on a high level. Could someone open my mind?

Thanks.

The main driver for elevating horizontal split casing compressor is that bottom inlet allows easy removal of the casing top for major maintenance. No large piping to disconnect.

Bobby Strain's explanation is the main reason for elevating gas compressors - both centrifugal and reciprocating - especially in the larger machine sizes.

Maintenance access to working parts is essential if the machines are to be kept in top condition year-round.
