Good day,

I have a question regarding to an existing High Point Venting in a Cooling Water Return (CWR) piping system. Currently that venting open during normal operation and the water+trapped air is drain continuously. The main purpose is to eliminate the trapped air inside the piping. However, since the water also going out to open drain during air elimination, I seen a waste of utilities (cooling water). Thus I plan to install automatic air vent to the line. So there is no more continuously utilities wastage and trapped air also can be eliminated. My question are:

  1. Does anyone know an equipment that is suitable with proven effectiveness to solve this problem?
  2. I have found two Venting valves from TLV and ARMSTRONG. I have no experience dealing with these valves, so, are they suitable for my situation? Basically they using floating ball in order to eliminate trapped air.
  3. Other info is, the service is Cooling Water Return, and operating pressure is 4-5 barg.

farid.k ,

Yes this technology is suitable to prevent accumulation of air ( air eliminator). Spirax sarco is selling similar equipment .

Note : For the start up of your cooling system you should have a manual  valve to release air trapped at the highest point of your system .

Hope this helps.
