Hello,
We have a horizontal flare system which contain main 14" flare header with (4) 10” dia Flare Tips designed for 50 MMSCFD total.
As per manufacture recomendations we provided purge gas into flare header. However with the larger diameter of the Flare Tips, there is no way to control even flow in between the four (4) units with the recommended purge rates when we have a cross winds present in this burn pit. The cross wind causes the air to be pushed in the header and we have a combustible air gas mixture inside header and once this occurs it will continuously draw air through one flare tip.
The Existing Flare Burner Set up currently is experiencing air entrainment and burning back inside our flare header. At this 10” dia size it takes a very large amount of Purge to keep the flame outside the four (4) 10” dia Flare Tips. We don’t think this will be an economical option.
Now the manufacture proposed a new Flare Tip Design - replace the 10in dia flare tip to the new design with the staging opening. I attached picture with idea
Does anybody knows about this new design? How generally it will work?
Regards,
Dmitry
