Hi all,

For my first post, I would like to get confirmation which location in a PRV to consider for the determination of the "fluid pattern" (LIQUID, TWO-PHASE or GAS). The sizing equations (API 520) is then chosen according to the fluid phase.

I'm working in the petroleum industry, and it is quite common to have the fluid in liquid phase at the relieving conditions and in two-phase at the exit of the PRV. In that case which pattern to choose (LIQUID or TWO-PHASE) ?

I haven't found any recommendations on this topic in the API.

Thanks for your support

Regards

Dominique

Fallah,

Many thanks for the information, the answer is effectively in this section. Being not a process engineer, I may have difficulties to collect the appropriate information.

Best Regards

Dominique
