Dear all,

I'm trying to rate existing HE with the data as below :

Shell Type : BEU

ID shell      : 37 inch

No. of shells in paralel / series : 1/1

tube OD : 0.75 inch

wall thickness : 0.083 inch

Tube pitch : 0.9375

Tube pitch ratio : 1.25

Tube layout angle : 90

tubepass : 2

length :12 ft

Tubes to remove for tie rods : 8

However with this data i cannot get 38 tubes in the first line of tube (see attached pict).

event if i modified the tube pitch, tubes number always odd cannot be even number.

Thank you for any help,

Andi

Have you tried adjusting your bundle clearance? The default in HTRI is to use TEMA clearances but your exchanger may have been designed with a closer fit.

thanks for the input pilesar.

but the think is existing layout there is no tube at the center line but at HTRI the tube always pop out at the center line

so it make the tube number per row always odd number.

i wanna make it even number like existing.

well im insist doing this because i wanna simulate plugging tube.

so the first think i need is validate tube layout existing with  HTRI.

Thx

HTRI allows the user to completely define the layout and designate which specific tubes are plugged. You do not have to use the automatic layout. Manually designating the layout one tube at a time can be frustrating because adjusting some other parameters (e.g. nozzles) can undo the manual layout. It is usually easier to start with the automatic layout and manually shift the tubes. For rating an exchanger with as many tubes as you have, small changes in tube row configuration may not meaningfully affect the result.

Hi andinumail

I just wonder that how HTRI generates the tube on the center line for 2 tube pass exchanger.
