Does anyone have experience using "off-the-shelf" steam flash separator devices designed and provided by vendors (e.g. Spirax Sarco) for large flows in a condensate recovery system? I have in mind flows like 50,000 lb/hr of 160 psi condensate. Spirax Sarco has Flash Vessel Sizing Chart (see Fig 14.6.4 http://www.spiraxsar...esources/Pages/Steam-Engineering-Tutorials/condensate-recovery/flash-steam.aspx ) which indicates they have predesigned equipment to handle large condensate flows.

Your link requires a password. Have you checked the sizing with your favorite software? This shouldn't be rocket science.

Thanks for giving the correct html coding, PingPong.
The dimensions of the Spirax Sarco flash tanks are much smaller than I would specify if they were for a process separation. Technical specs on their flash tanks are given here: http://www.spiraxsar...Information.pdf
I find no information about any internals so they may just be plain gravity separators. But they sure seem small.

No, I don't, but as Bobby already said: this is not rocket science.

It is very simple to size such a separator and see whether the Spirax Sarco size makes sense.

What is the flash steam pressure (pressure in separator at which the condensate is to be flashed)?

What is the flash steam to be used for?
