Hi Folks,
I would like to know which two phase (liquid-vapour) correlation are you using for modeling flare system hydraulics (which has high velocity and pressure drop)?
Thanks,
Amin

I have used Duckler constant slip model for 30 years without problems for all applications. I don't think anyone has found a good solution to estimating critical flow in the two-phase regime. I once had a major E&C contractor replace a bunch of piping because he used the equation for gases to determine critical flow. This was in a facility operating for 20 years, without incident. So, maybe you can do some research and let us know what you find.

In general (velocity < critical flow) the method proposed by Bobby is reliable (when properly applied) and not complex.
To estimate critical flow for two phases you may adopt a variant of HEM model,
the topic has been discussed in this forum, see for example the thread
"http://www.cheresour...g-omega-method"
similar procedures may be applied for piping, for a recent paper
"http://www.iaeng.org..._pp733-738.pdf"
some software (I have Prode but I think Diers and others have similar procedures) include specific methods, the same for the specialized software for flares (note that in some cases these may apply simplified methods)
