Hi,

I have this question regarding amine (MDEA). One of my college have recommended to provide fire alarm system close to lean/rich exchanger. He mentioned, due to dissolve hydrocarbon and gas in amine there is high probability of fire. I went through MDEA's MSDS. it doesn't say it amine will catch fire, But I have this question for exerts in amine, That " is this possible for amine to catch fire when there is dissolved hydrocarbon in amine"

Thanks for the answer.

There is toxic gas alarm near rich/lean exchanger that I have seen. However in case of leak, rich MDEA will flash and gas will release may lead to fire. Some places fire alarm along with toxic gas alarm are present.
