I am working asu plant.we are facing problem in cylinder filling pump.our storage tank is vertical position. Our cylinder pump suction line connection bottom of the tank. We are maintain pressure 0.65 barg. Once the level is above 80 percentage then only we can filled cylinder pump getting load. But level 40 or 50 percentage we couldn't start the pump because of pressure is 0.65 bar we could not raised the pressure because of we are getting production online. At the same level pressure increased means pump getting load but production we are not taken that time.

Please give me valuable suggestion to me

Question framing seems odd.It lacks clarity.

What is the supposed suction pressure at pump inlet? Is it 0.65bar(g)

But level 40 or 50 percentage we couldn't start the pump because of pressure is 0.65 bar we could not raised the pressure because of we are getting production online. At the same level pressure increased means pump getting load but production we are not taken that time.

I can't fathom what u say in the above statement.

Please clarify

Sorry sir. We are maintaining storage tank pressure 0.65 bar(g) below because we are producing argon from distillation columns flow goes to storage tank. That time we couldn't raise the pressure in tank .

What is the Pure Argon Column pressure?

When the level is around 80 % , what is the dP between PAr and Argon storage tank.

When the level goes down, maintain that same dP using a Pressure building coil;as the pressure begins to fall.

Please confirm whether u have a PB coil attached to your tank ?

Did you ask the pump supplier for Min require NPSH  & NPSP ??

Does piping as per Pump Manufacturer recommendations !!

If it is operating at 80% Level and above than I assume that it is a problem of NPSH ...

Dear,

1 If this is the cryogenic pump you must have sufficient cooling of pump casing & have proper venting line from the casing. Because this type of pump is cavitating very fast. Pl confirm that you don't have any vapor pocket in pump casing & It will always filled with liquid.

2 As per Mr Vikas Patel said NPSH problem for suction is also possible.

3 Keep above 80% level & filling cylinder until other solution is found.

4 Check suction strainer / Mesh size.

Regards,

Manoj
