We have a CEMS system for measurement of SO2 and NOx. Sample has about 150 mg/m3 of HCl. We tried to remove HCL by scrubbing using NaOH, but it removes SO2 also.

Can any one suggest a suitable scrubber to remove HCl without affecting other measurement components? Typical sample flow rate is 60 lph.

Try scrubbing with an aqueous solution of silver nitrate AgNO3

The Ag+ ions will then react with Cl- ions from the dissolved HCl to form insoluble AgCl
