Hello all.

Can i consider the installed PSV - calculated for fire case - as a mean of protection to a scenario of overpressure due to flooding?

Any information would be very appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You can answer that by simply developing the scenario in question.

Rodscott,

Yes, provided that the relief load due to flooding doesn't exceed that of the fire case....

Thanks Bobby and Fallah.

Moving forward, considering that PSV´s may be used to protect the vessel against overpressure due to flooding, can i consider these PSV as an Independent Protection Layer (IPL) in LOPA studies when evaluating high level (flooding) scenarios?

Thanks again.

But we probably missed your point. We have no idea what this equipment is, where the PSV is located, etc. If you provide a sketch with some information, we may be able to evaluate your situation. I don't think we have confirmed anything.
