I have a question about flare calculation

 

I have to work on a document , " flare radiation study report". but this document is different from " flare desifn basis" and I do not know what technical notes shall be considered in this document.

 

I will appreciate you if you give me some help about this.

Read the section 5.7.2.3 "Thermal radiation" in the 6th edition of API 521, "Pressure-relieving and Depressuring Systems". Everything about thermal radiation and how to calculate it is explained there.

 

You can also refer to earlier revisions of API 521. The section number may be different, I don't remember.

other than merely calculate the radiation, the difficult part is to establish the controlling relieving case for the flare system.

moreover, the controlling load for radiation is usually different from the controlling load for hydraulics.
