Hi, all

I have problems with saturating dry gas with water.

I want calculate the amount of water to saturate dry gas.

Actually i can calculate it by using hysys tool which is "saturate with water"

I just put dry gas stream data ( pressure, temperature, composition) and water condition (pressure, temperature).

But, i couldn't understand exactly what did it mean...

So. I just want to know the meaning of "saturate with water"

and also, how can i configure "saturate with water" in PRO/II ???

Thank you for your time in advance.

Normally you will be furnished with dry composition from the lab with no water at all (dry composition).

In reality, well fluids are water saturated. When performing simulation, it is necessary to add water to the dry fluids and the fluids will absorb some amount of water until it's saturated. The term saturated means, it can't hold water anymore. Additional water will be knocked off, called free water.

as noted by cylai you can simply add water to a stream  untill you get water in liquid phase...

you can solve that with almost any simulator,

a problem could be the accuracy of thermo model,

the topic has been discused many times at cheresources,

see for example

In addition to above comments, you can do that manually in hysys without using saturate function. Just add mix stream and add water and then knockout after mix. apply adjust function such that liquid from KOD becomes equal to zero. this method helps you solve simulation for any property package.

concept behind this is simple. make gas stream saturated with water such that no liquid formation takes place at operating T & P.
