Is it true?
Is the inlet volume and outlet after they inject air to vaccum bottom must be the same?

In a bitumen blowing unit typically 2 - 3 wt% of the feed will be lost due to oxidation (hydrogen burnoff).
Moreover the density of the bitumen will typically be 1 % higher than that of the residue feed.
Both numbers depend on the grade of bitumen that is being produced.
Together that results in a volume decrease of typically 3 - 4 %.
So 5000 BPSD residue can indeed reduce to 4800 BPSD bitumen, defined at the same temperature.
Note also that your residue flow meter as well as your clients bitumen flow meter have an inaccuracy.
