Dear All,

Greetings!

We are doing a tank farm project. Fluid is crude oil. At the inlet of the tank there is a degassing vessel. The inlet to the vessel is coming from wet crude header. On this header, to avoid slug flow, the risers are shown in the P&ID. For this i have to calculate the number of risers and the sizes of the each riser needed.

In the above connection can any body please help me by providing the related spread sheets or codes/standards/guide lines to be followed.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jaivanth Rao

In order to help other members respond to your problem, would you please tell us more about:

1. What is slug flow.

2 How does slug occurs in the pipeline

3. Why slug flow must be avoided

4 How does a riser eliminate slug.

Regards

Dear,

I am not design expert but just few month back I commissioned some 120 meter diameter tanks for crude. We don't have such device but we faced some problem that some crude carry over on the floating roof. So as per my common understanding this is only separation device to separate any gas/non condensable  like N2, or lighter parts from the crude. This may be perforated pipe or simple plate normally we are using in KOD for gas system.

Hope this will give some clue

Good luck

Regards,
