I'm looking for suggestions about topics in industrial process dynamics which show considerable delay to be considered in modelling. Right now I just have been thinking on reactors in series. Any other suggestion about an specific topic (reactions, heat exchange, equipment) which shows considerable delay in their dynamics? I'm trying to model with DDE (delay diferential equations).

Thanks in advance,

Felipe

Hi Felipe

Please let me know why you are looking for such a process system to model it.

Anyway, the dynamic of thermal systems is slow most of the time and in the other word they have a big time constant and a big delay.

So, one of the suitable cases for you is modelling a heat exchanger cooling down by cooled water. You can find the time constant by solving the equations of energy balance and realized the effective parameters to increas or decrease it.

Bioreactors are another samples in which the concentration of microorganism or substrate have complex relationship to each other and have a considerable delay.
