Hi
I am currently doing a design project which involves the production of ethylene. We are required to carry out preliminary sizing on major pieces of equipment.During this process, there is need for a molecular sieve to dehydrate the process stream prior to chilling. However I am unable to find any information regarding how to go about sizing this type of equipment in textbooks and on the internet. I managed to find a text which provides a formula and coefficients to obtain an estimated cost once the bulk volume of the sieve is found. However, I cannot seem to find any information on how to go about obtaining this parameter. I was considering sizing it as a packed bed but column packings are listed in the text as separate cost items among which molecular sieves are not included.
From other posts I have seen that the gpsa databook chapter 20 has information but I have not yet been able to obtain a copy. Thus I would like to know if anyone has a procedure or other information about sizing molecular sieves, preferably referenced as we have to include where we got our information from. Thanks very much in advance.
