The Problem In Maleic Anhydride Production Simulation, Help Me!

Im having trouble in selection of a suitable fluid package. My components are benzene, maleic anhydride, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen and water. When I followed Seader's recommendation, it advised using PSRK, however it turned out that HYSYS does not recommended using it due to the present of Maleic Anhydride. When I followed Carlson's recommendation, I was advised using extended NRTL. Using NRTL seems to be fine at first, however I found out that my first Distillation Column (as a absorber which absorb Anhydride Maleic by a Dibutyl Phthalate solvent) is not fonction. Not only can't absorb Anhydride Maleic, but also the Dibutyl Phthalate solvent vaporize into overhead stream.

So now I am really confused and dont know what fluid package to be implemented. My problem is a wrong fluid package or other mistakes? I would very much appreciate if any of you could give me some advice about this.

I'm using HYSYS v7.2

Did you try Peng Robinson ?

I have no another solution :) But as I tried on Aspen, the same problem with butane was worked with peng robinson. If an error message appears, you should press "keep the component"button. Otherwise, non-obeying components will be deleted by aspen. That's all I know.

Hi huunghia,

Your system is a polar electrolyte system with non-polar components. This will require the use of binary interaction parameters between substances.

You should use either of the following property methods -
1. ElecNRTL (electrolyte nrtl)
2. PSRK. Since PSRK doesn't work try MSRK (Modified SRK)
2. PR-SV. This contains several binary interaction parameters too for all pair combinations (Hydrocarbon and Non-HC systems) so it is worth a try.

Try them out and let me know.

Hi Shankanuk,
I'm simulating Maleic Anhydride production in hysys
I'm using PRSV fluid package 
and I've defined 3 kinetic reactions in reaction set. main reaction and 2 side reactions.
I used plug flow reactor .

It converged but there is no conversion.
I tried increasing feed temperature also but it didst work
No maleic anhydride is being produced
Can you help me solve it?
